Dalet Wins Tapeless Newsroom Deal with Telewizja Polska This tapeless newsroom is to be the first step to an overall digitization of TVP infrastructures (February 22, 2006)

Dalet Digital Media Systems, a leading provider of media management tools for more than a decade, today announced that the Polish national broadcaster, Telewizja Polska (TVP), chose DaletPlus News Suite to digitize its sports newsroom.

Located in Warsaw, Poland, this integrated digital newsroom will be used to ensure the production, play-out, and archiving of sporting events broadcast on the national Polish television network. This tapeless newsroom is to be the first step to an overall digitization of TVP infrastructures.

?We chose DaletPlus News Suite because it is an open, modular system that can integrate with our existing newsroom systems and infrastructure,? comments Andrzej Kazmierski, Director of Technology and Investment Division, TVP. ?Our expectation is that Dalet will logically unify news production and playout without adding technical complexities or proprietary software that would limit future scalability.?

?Dalet digital media systems empower journalists and editors in the newsroom by providing them with easy-to-use, intuitive tools for tapeless production and play-out,? explains David Lasry, CEO and President of Dalet. ?Because the software platform we provide is scalable, TVP will have the ability in the future to extend their digital tapeless production environment throughout their facilities.?

DaletPlus News Suite, a platform open for integration
The Dalet production and play-out platform will take advantage of industry standard protocols such as MOS, MXF and XML to integrate a number of third party systems including: the existing newsroom computer system used at TVP, Sony XDCAM decks, legacy Avid non-linear editing systems, vizRT computer graphics engines, Omneon Spectrum Media servers and Xendata Hierarchical Storage Management (HSM) systems.
