Stompbox Music and Sound Design Expands(December 21, 2004)
Stompbox Music and Sound Design, a boutique, original music production and post production house located in Santa Monica, has significantly expanded its operations, by promoting Tommy OBrien to Creative Director/Executive Producer and by hiring Paul Hurtubise as Sound Mixer. In addition, the company has also compiled an impressive array of music composers to work under the ?Stompbox banner, including Gary Myrick, Ben Einziger, Sam Farrar, Steven Morrell, Chris Horvath, John Author and Kevin Hayes.
Stompbox has just recently completed producing original music for a national ?Toyotathon 2005 spot for client Saatchi and Saatchi and Toyota.
Regarding the newly revamped Stompbox, OBrien said, ?It's an exciting new chapter both for myself and for our company. I have such high regard for this great group of composers and artists. I've always felt that choosing the right personality for any creative endeavor is as important as his body of experience. Music, and especially music for advertising, is a fluid process of change, improvement, and compromise. Each of our composers will bring with him a spirit and enthusiasm to each of our clients projects, which will embellish and complement those projects. This is the next evolution of Stompbox.
ABOUT TOMMY OBRIEN, Creative Director/Executive Producer:
CREDITS: Tommy OBrien is a founding member of Stompbox in l998, and had been a freelance composer with the company until now. A musician who began his career in New York, Tommy OBrien once toured with Dee Dee Ramone and did a world tour with a pop act called Sweet Sentation. Moving to LA in l995, he became a successful freelance composer, working on TV spots for Endless Noise and with many other major jingle houses based in LA.
ABOUT PAUL HURTUBISE, Sound Mixer:
CREDITS: Paul Hurtubise is a mixer, sound designer and composer who has been working in the advertising industry for the last 10 years. Paul was awarded a CLIO in 1999 as an engineer and has mixed and/or done sound design for over 10 thousand commercials. Some of his clients over the last few years have been Radio Shack, Infiniti, Earthlink, Gateway. He has written music in a multitude of styles for many TV shows including Biography, Elimidate, Mail Call, Forensic Files, Animal Planet, and has also penned music to commercials for Chevy, Scooby-Doo, Wherehouse Music and Miller Lite.
ABOUT GARY MYRICK:
CREDITS: Performed in bands Kracker, Whirlwind, Grammy winner for John Waite song ?Missing You, ADDY Award winner for ?Best Composer for a Jack Daniels TV spot.
ABOUT BEN EINZIGER:
CREDITS: Performed in bands Audiovent (selling over 140,000 records,) and Agent Sparks.
ABOUT SAM FARRAR:
CREDITS: Performed in band Phantom Planet (releases on Geffen and Sony Epid,) with their song "California," serving as the theme song to the hit TV series ?The OC.
ABOUT STEVE MORRELL:
CREDITS: Freelance composer, orchestrator and arranger for film, TV and interactive media products. He has composed scores for several feature films, numerous promo spots for Warner Bros. and ABC TV and TV commercial spots for InFocus, SAS, Disney Theme Parks, Betty Crocker, General Mills, St. Ives and Toyota.
ABOUT CHRIS HORVATH:
CREDITS: His music has been featured on several soundtracks, including ?Two Ninas, ?Erin Brockovitch, and ?Whatever It Takes, as well as on the TV shows ?Roswell, ?Scrubs, ?Alias, ?Providence, ?The Pretender, and ?Digimon, for which he composed the theme. Also numerous extreme action themes for FOX Sports, and the winner of a Golden Clio Award.

CREDITS: Former executive producer at both Ear to Ear and tomandandy/LA, and also held the post as staff composer/producer at Face the Music and Decibel Architects, has developed music for thousands of commercials, as well music for many films, videos, and television programming. A short list of clients he has produced music for includes Cadillac, JCPenney, Cisco, KBKids.com, USAF, Bandai, Looksmart, Got Milk?, Lincoln/Mercury, PGA, Mitsubishi, IBM, Earthlink, women.com, Lexus, Mattel, Kodak, Discover Card, ABC, Nissan, and Kmart.

CREDITS: A multi-award winning composer, songwriter, and conductor
