Weekly Download: Expression Brushes, Series 1 30 textured brushes for Creature House Expression 3 By Dave Nagel It looks like I wasn't the only one excited by the release of Expression 3 from Creature House. Having reviewed it earlier this week, I received a flood of e-mails in agreement with my "Strong Buy" assessment, as well as some requests for me to create custom brushes for the program. Well, I suppose the timing couldn't be much better, so here you go: Nagel Series 1 Expression Brushes.

In case you don't know Expression or exactly how Expression works, one of its features is the ability to use bitmap images as strokes over vectors, and the program has some unique and effective ways of dealing with these sorts of brushes. Rather than simply repeating a bitmap image, Expression can twist it along a path, scale it through pressure, use various blending modes and a whole host of other fun and sometimes quite beautiful effects.

The brushes
Today's collection includes 30 such bitmap strokes that employ only the most basic Expression 3 settings. You can, of course, modify these to your heart's content to come up with your own variations. Here's a sampling of the brushes included.

NS1EB-29 (single stroke)

NS1EB-17 (multiple strokes multiplied over one another)

NS1EB-10 (multiple strokes multiplied over one another)

NS1EB-25 (multiple strokes multiplied over one another)

A little more than half of these brushes are pre-colored, which is to say that you won't be able to modify their colors through Expression's coloration techniques, at least not that I can see. Others are grayscale and can therefore be colored however you see fit. COntinue on to the next page for download and installation instructions.

Content Insider #148 - The iGen
NO...Doesn't have a thing to do with "that" smartphone...or "that" store...or "that" tablet. It's the next generation. Kids and we mean little kids. That's what today's products are being designed for/targeted at. You happen to buy one...fine. Watch a little, little kid pick up a smartphone. He/she just uses it. They've come pre-wired and we're still trying to figure out how to IM. It's the IGen. They want it instantly. They want to use it instantly. They expect their photos, their video, their music, their stuff immediately when/where/how they want it. Read More

Insider #149 - Game Demographics
The blood, gore, adrenalin challenges that were unveiled at E3 and enjoyed at ComicCon are fun to look at, easy to hold but are they really the games people want to plunk down their credit cards to own or rent time with? Seems as though the investors, the players who control the controllers have a different idea of a "good" game than the kids who develop them. While mobs of people play educational, informational, stimulating games our kid huddles in his room and mumbles "The Few, The Proud, The Gamers." Read More
