nPine Updates MathMagic for Adobe InDesign

Equation editing software gets improved stability, appearance options By Dave Nagel
nPine has released new versions of MathMagic Personal Edition and MathMagic Pro Edition. MathMagic Pro is an equation-editing plugin for Adobe InDesign, while the Personal Edition is a standalone equation-editing application. The new versions are designed to provide improved stability and offer additional features for improving the appearance of equations. The Pro Edition is available for Mac OS X, while the personal edition is available for both Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X. (Older versions are also available for Windows.)

MathMagic is a mathematical equation editor that provides automatic formatting of equations and a WYSIWYG interface for producing equations within InDesign. According to nPine, the new version offers improved stability; new options for equation size, gap and line thickness; improved EPS quality; more accurate spacing; and automatic recovery of unsaved changes. The new Pro Edition also includes improved interaction between the MathMagic plugin and the MathMagic application. A complete list of changes is available on the company's Web site. nPine adds that the next update will also include automatic color matching between InDesign swatches and MathMagic document colors.

MathMagic Personal Edition 4.0.5 is available now for $119.95 for the full version, $69.95 for an academic license. MathMagic Professional Edition sells for $695 for a single-user license, $399 for the academic version. Mutli-user licenses and demo versions are also available.
