mLAN Digital Music to Network 80 Channels of Digital Audio at Three AES Locations

-Yamaha, Otari, and NEC Contribute to Demonstration- (September 10, 2001)
Yamaha Corporation of America will showcase the mLAN digital music network at this year's AES show between the Yamaha booth (318), Otari booth (430) and the mLAN booth (618), networked on the show floor using long distance fiber optic cables and NEC 1394 long distance repeaters. The demonstration will represent 80 digital audio channels and node-to-node runs of up to 100 meters.

mLAN provides a comprehensive approach to the wiring and connection requirements of the modern music production facility by providing up to 100 channels of CD quality audio and thousands of MIDI channels on a single 1394 cable. Compatible with existing IEEE 1394 protocols, the network provides additional professional system configuration and control capabilities in the form of high-end clock management and automatic system reconnection.

mLAN-capable equipment is connected with a single standard 1394 cable, which provides audio, word clock, MIDI I/O, and additionally, comprehensive signal routing of the connected gear.

As a technology, mLAN provides incredible flexibility and power to any audio installation. The licensing program is royalty-free and provides licensees access to mLAN LSI, circuit diagrams and binary code for product implementation.
