iStockphoto Extends Program That Makes a Collection of Free Stock Images Available Online for Microsoft Office User Community(March 17, 2008)
DMN Newswire - iStockphoto®, the worlds busiest online stock image marketplace, today announced that it will extend a year-old program that makes a collection of low-resolution images and illustrations available free of additional charge to Microsoft Office® users through Microsoft Office Online. Based on the initial success of the program, iStockphoto will significantly increase the number of free images to the collection. In addition, the companies are looking to expand the program to new languages and countries in the coming year.
Microsoft Office Online offers how-to articles, tips, training courses, templates, clip art and media, downloads and other productivity-enhancing tools for all Microsoft Office programs. Users can access the clip art directly from http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/clipart/ or by navigating to the site from within Microsoft Office software. There they will find a diverse collection of images from iStockphoto and a number of other sources that can be searched and downloaded at no cost. With just a few clicks of the mouse, users can add punch and professionalism to documents and presentations.
?Customer response to the quality of the images we put at their fingertips has been extremely positive, said Christopher Mascis, business development manager for Microsoft Office Online. ?iStockphoto is helping us provide Microsoft Office Online users with free, high quality images to make their Microsoft Office documents more professional and effective. Its great to see how enthusiastically our customers are responding to the value offered by iStockphoto. The bar is constantly being raised.
While the free images found on the site will work well for most applications, users looking for high-resolution images for commercial or marketing purposes are also given the option to link directly to the iStockphoto Web site from Microsoft Office Online, where they can choose from millions of photos, illustrations and videos that are available to be purchased and licensed for prices as low as one dollar.
?Being a Microsoft Office Online content provider has generated a lot of excitement with iStockphoto contributors and it has greatly accelerated iStocks profile with several new types of users, many of whom have not used micropayment stock images before, said Garth Johnson, vice president of business and community development. ?Since we began offering imagery on the Microsoft Office site, tens of thousands of Microsoft Office users have signed up to access our 2.8 million image collection and take full advantage of all we have to offer.
iStockphoto, www.istockphoto.com, is the worlds busiest image market, with an image downloaded every 1.4 seconds. iStock pioneered the micropayment phenomenon in this industry, enabling buyers to license images for as little as a dollar. iStockphoto entered the stock video market with similarly enticing price points in September of 2006. In partnership with its members, iStockphoto has turned community into commerce, transforming the digital imagery market by encouraging passionate dialogue and education, while making imagery affordable to businesses that may not have licensed imagery otherwise. iStockphoto is headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Getty Images.
