iSirona Wins CentraCare Health System Contract for Medical Device ConnectivityMinnesota-Based Health Network to Extend Device Integration as Part of $225 Million Expansion (January 24, 2012)
PANAMA CITY, FL -- (Marketwire) -- 01/24/12 -- iSirona®, a provider of simplified solutions for medical device integration, today announced that St. Cloud, Minnesota-based CentraCare Health System has chosen to implement iSirona's device connectivity technology. CentraCare will use iSirona's solution to channel the delivery of patient data from ventilators throughout the hospital into its Epic EMR.
A collaborative network of Central Minnesota healthcare providers, CentraCare includes three hospitals, four long-term care facilities, and nearly a dozen clinics and numerous specialty care services. Its expansion will include a move to a new facility, which convinced the health system that it was time to replace its existing device integration solution with one that was more adaptable for both current and future needs.
"We chose iSirona because we were impressed by the flexibility of their solution," explains CentraCare CIO Amy Porwoll. "It's a software solution, so it allows us to use our existing infrastructure and doesn't require proprietary hardware or special cabling. Best of all, it won't require workflow changes for our clinicians, and a seamless cutover is a real advantage."
"We can take the iSirona solution anywhere in the hospital, so we're no longer limited," adds Ken Benning, CentraCare's project manager. "Moving forward, we'll definitely consider how to best use this technology to integrate additional medical devices hospital-wide."
Panama City, Florida-based iSirona helps clinicians make more informed decisions about patients by providing an easy to use approach to medical device integration. Using iSirona's software solution, hospitals can connect virtually any medical device to their CIS, providing clinicians with faster access to more accurate patient information.
