iPad 2 Treasure Hunt Continues in Chicago, First Prize Found in Streeterville Park(June 20, 2011)
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) June 20, 2011
One iPad down, four still up for grabs. The first Golden Delicious Ticket from The Chicago iPad Hunt, hosted by AppleSliced.com, was found last week in Ogden Plaza Park.
"Michigan lies on either side? / What a confusing place to hide / So place yourself upon the lands / Those in the know once called The Sands."
On June 8, five Golden Delicious Tickets, each redeemable for an iPad 2, were scattered across the city. The clue above was the eighth released in the hunt for the first Golden Delicious Ticket, and it ultimately lead Matt Kirchhoff to Ogden Plaza Park in Streeterville.
Clues for the second iPad have already been released online.
"With Wednesday's clue we saw 'The Sands,' and I figured that was the important part of the clue because it was capitalized," Kirchhoff said during an interview (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KZW6BvDeoq4).
"The Sands" was an early nickname for the land that ultimately became Streeterville. After realizing the neighborhood and previously determining that the ticket was hidden in a park and under a bench, Kirchhoff began to focus on Ogden Plaza Park. He thought the name looked similar to "a pan glazed pork," which he correctly believed to be an anagram from an earlier clue.
Kirchhoff began to check each bench in the park during a heavy rainstorm while talking to his mother on the phone.
"When I found it under the bench, I actually swore into the phone at my mom," Kirchhoff said.
Contest host Matt Kraft of Apple Sliced was not only surprised by how quickly the first Golden Delicious Ticket was found, but also surprised by how many people made it to the spot within hours of it being found.
"After talking with several treasure hunters, we're pretty astounded at the different ways in which everyone dissected the clues," Kraft said.
One at a time, more clues will be released on AppleSliced.com, Twitter, and Facebook to reveal the locations of the other four Golden Delicious Tickets. Get the ticket, get the iPad.
