As the company has discussed, advertising is a key market for the use of its streaming media technology. Merrill Lynch estimates that online advertising for 2001 will be in excess of $8 billion, and Jupiter projects that total ad spending online is expected to double to $15 billion by 2004. Rich media has become an integral part of an advertising plan, as it allows ads to be targeted and interactive and presents a significant opportunity for advertisers to increase the effectiveness of their advertising to wireless device users.
"Research analysts and companies predict that mobile advertising will be the number one mobile commerce application over the next few years," said Tom Hemingway, CEO of eSynch.
