eMedia 101 at St. Louis County Library

  (December 29, 2011)

(PRWEB) December 29, 2011

Did you get an eReader for the holidays? Need help learning how to use it? Wondering how to download free eBooks from the library? St. Louis County Library has developed a number of resources to help new eReader users navigate the world of eMedia.

Throughout January multiple branches will offer free classes on how to download eBooks from the library (schedule below). Classes will cover a range of devices and will provide hands-on instruction. Individuals can register online at http://www.slcl.org/events or by calling 314-994-3300.

SLCL offers eMedia services for a wide variety of devices including Android, iPhone, iPad, Kindle, Kobo, Nook and Sony eReaders. Individuals with an SLCL library card have access to thousands of eBook, eAudiobook and eVideo titles.

Customers needing individualized assistance can take advantage of the Book-a-Trainer program. All branches except Daniel Boone, Eureka Hills and Meramec Valley have computer trainers available to meet for 30-minute sessions. To Book-a-Trainer call 314-994-3300.

SLCL has doubled the number of eBook titles in its collection this year. Currently over 6,000 eBooks are available to download; that number will continue to grow in 2012. The librarys eMedia webpage has instructions for specific devices, as well as an eMedia blog, which lists software updates, tips and tricks, and other useful news.
