eDJ Group Report Finds Cloud and Social Media Slowly Being Adopted by CorporationsFirst Report in eDJ Group's Cloud and eDiscovery Series, "Gearing Up for the Cloud and Social Media," Prepares IT departments for Information Governance and E-Discovery Issues (January 19, 2012)
BOSTON, MA -- (Marketwire) -- 01/19/12 -- While the cloud and social media are important trends in the tech world, neither have yet gained widespread adoption within corporations, according to findings in a new report released by eDJ Group, Inc., a leading e-discovery analyst and consulting firm and parent company of the eDiscovery Journal (www.ediscoveryjournal.com). The findings in the new report, titled "Gearing Up for the Cloud and Social Media," provide insight on how IT and legal teams can proactively prepare for the information governance (IG) and e-discovery issues that will arise from these new data sources and types.

The first report in eDJ's The Cloud and eDiscovery series provides insights and best practices for companies to address the challenges of the cloud and social media as part of a proactive and holistic e-discovery and IG strategy. The report draws on survey findings from eDJ's "eDiscovery and The Cloud" survey, conducted in November and December of 2011, which uncovered the following:
- < 16% of respondents put an e-discovery plan into place before moving data into the cloud
- 22.8% did not put a plan in place
- 19.8% are working on a plan currently
These findings emphasize how a lack of preparedness exacerbates the challenges presented by social media and cloud computing. The report also provides expert recommendations for adapting IG and eDiscovery processes to these new sources of data in order to avoid unanticipated costs and risks down the road.
