da Vinci's 2K Plus Used in Post-Production of 2006 Oscar Nominees

Image enhancement system played instrumental role in color grading of Oscar-nominated films (February 02, 2006)

The 2K Plus, da Vinci Systems' Emmy Award-winning image enhancement system, played an instrumental role in the color grading of Oscar-nominated films this year, including films posted in the emerging digital intermediate (DI) process.

Among the confirmed Oscar-nominated films color-graded on the da Vinci 2K Plus are "Walk the Line," "Good Night and Good Luck," "Transamerica," "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe," and "Memoirs of a Geisha."

"The da Vinci 2K Plus has become synonymous with the term 'color enhancement,'" said Bill Robertson, vice president and general manager of da Vinci Systems. "Its unrivaled power and unmatched toolset have made it the preferred choice of today's leading colorists and cinematographers for truly realizing their creative vision."

The da Vinci 2K Plus offers the flexibility needed to adapt to both linear and nonlinear workflows, thus placing it as the leader in DI color grading. The DI technology offered by the 2K Plus allows colorists nonlinear access to all material while storing references and keeping color decisions matched with editorial changes. This technology was employed in "Memoirs of a Geisha," "Good Night and Good Luck," and others.
