da Vinci and DVS Team On 2K Plus / CLIPSTER InterfaceTo enhance nonlinear functionality for users of 2K Plus and CLIPSTER (September 09, 2005)
da Vinci Systems has collaborated with DVS, maker of the award-winning CLIPSTER conforming tool for digital intermediate (DI) workflows, to improve the nonlinear functionality of its Emmy Award-winning 2K Plus image enhancement solution. da Vincis interface for the DVS CLIPSTER features many enhancements that free colorists to make artistic decisions without having to update window positions manually.
Version 4.0 of the 2K Plus software, debuting at IBC2005, includes the new interface developed for the DVS CLIPSTER. When sizing changes are made to an image with the CLIPSTER, the size and position of PowerWindows in the 2K Plus will be updated automatically. By sparing colorists from having to update the positions of the windows manually, this functionality allows post-production studios to realize significant cost savings from increased operational efficiency. The new interface also features other enhancements specifically for the CLIPSTER, such as queued stepping and transport control.
?Were very pleased to join forces with da Vinci, whose products are so widely used and respected in our industry, to provide even greater functionality and efficiency to our mutual customers, said DVS President Peter Spoer. ?We're looking forward to showing off the new interface at IBC2005 and demonstrating how this new integration will provide significant time savings for the user.
CLIPSTER can be used to apply a wide range of effects in real time, including rotation, flip-flopping, zooming and panning, cropping, and transitions.
The 2K Plus is the television and motion picture industrys leading color enhancement system and the most widely used system in DI applications. Version 4.0 includes the introduction of the ColorTrace and Toolbox2 options and other major enhancements, including fingertip access to many powerful Toolbox2 features such as enhanced PowerVectors, enhanced Defocus, and real-time special effects.
?The 2K Plus has long been the most widely used system of its kind for DI applications, and our collaboration with DVS makes it an even more important tool for this application by boosting the 2Ks nonlinear functionality, said Tony Fox, director of marketing at da Vinci Systems. ?Customers who have ColorTrace and a DVS CLIPSTER will realize a much improved, more efficient workflow with their 2K Plus/CLIPSTER combination.
