beyerdynamic Revealed New MCW-D 50 at InfoComm 2005

New wireless digital conference system features aggressive price point (June 16, 2005)

beyerdynamic, a leading manufacturer of premium-grade microphones, headphones and wireless microphone systems, revealed the new MCW-D 50 Wireless Digital Conference System at InfoComm. Designed to provide the conferencing market with a future proof and flexible product, the MCW-D 50 builds on the reputation of the popular MCW-D 200 by offering the same quality build and inspired design principals in a cost effective package.

?The MCW-D 50 system provides digital control, wireless convenience, encrypted security and plug and play ease of use at an aggressive price point, says Bob Lowig, Eastern Regional Sales Manager for beyerdynamic. ?The system can be self contained or run from a PC with the added benefit of compatibility with our Steno-S conference and recording software. We believe the MCW-D 50 will have a significant impact on the conferencing market when it is released at the end of June.

The MCW-D 50 wireless digital conference system consists of the MCW-D 50 control unit, the MCW-D 523 chairman microphone unit, the MCW-D 521 delegate microphone unit and the CC 10 modular case. The system offers DSSS ultra-safe transmission technology over a complete wide-band spectrum in low intensity, guaranteeing local only reception and privacy. The 11-bit chipping code provides additional encryption of audio signals before data transmission preventing the signal from being scanned and decoded. The 128-bit encrypting data transmission protocol and data compression was created by beyerdynamic for the exclusive use of beyerdynamic wireless conferencing systems, further enhancing data privacy and efficient use of bandwidth. Three bi-directional audio data streams are part of the DSSS protocol allowing a coexistence with LAWN in the 2.4 GHz frequency range.

The heart of the system, the MCW-D 50 Control Unit provides the capacity to control up to 4096 wireless digital microphone units in different operating modes designed to organize meetings and make them more productive. The system allows for the participant to control the system through autonomy mode or request-to-talk mode. The configuration of the entire system can be conducted simply with the Editor software integrated into the MCW-D 50 conference software or through connection with a PC. For a larger span of application it is possible to integrate external systems like mixers and recorders.

The MCW-D 523 Chairman microphone unit offers a loudspeaker, a gooseneck cardioid microphone with illuminated status ring, three microphone buttons including LED status, clear and priority, headphone and documentation output. The MCW-D 521 Delegate microphone unit has a loudspeaker, cardioid gooseneck microphone with illuminated status ring, one microphone button with LED to indicate request-to-speak or on/off, headphone and documentation output. Each unit is powered by eight NiMH batteries, delivering between 10 to 15 hours of service per charge depending on the participation time in any conferencing situation. A DC-connection is integrated for DC operation or fast recharge.

CC 10 is a modular case with individual expansions for the storage of microphone units, charging electronics and control unit. An integrated power supply unit allows charging of 1 to 10 microphone systems at a time without the need to discharge first. The intelligent charging electronics integral to the microphone units avoid the unwanted memory effect. A convenient inspection window is available for easy surveillance of the charging procedure of each microphone unit. The cabinet is wheeled and stackable for mobile storage.
