Conference Workshops: billing
Reduced mailing costs using digital mail
Randy Dean, SVP digital postal mail and commerce, Zumbox
Tim Jarrell, associate VP, IS programs, Cobb EMC
Digital mail is dramatically impacting paper suppression rates for mailers across the US. In the Twin Cities, 37 percent of consumers that signed up for Zumbox chose to go paperless after viewing their first bills; 46 percent went paperless by the second billing cycle. In this presentation, Dean and Jarrell will share a detailed case study of other ways digital postal mail creates cost savings and revenue opportunities for organizations. Attendees will learn how to cut mailing costs of customer communications. They will walk away understanding the new revenue opportunities presented though dynamic digital communication channels and how other cost savings can be realized by letting digital postal mail drive consumers to lowest cost payment and support options.
Dean is SVP digital postal mail and commerce, and manages key operations including sales, alliances and business development. He brings more than 20 years of entrepreneurial success with a particular focus on the consumer internet at companies such as AOL, The Active Network and LivingSocial. He has extensive experience in the development, management and distribution of online content, as well as business development, marketing, sales and operations.
Jarrell joined Cobb EMC in 2006 to create an enterprise project management office with accompanying processes and procedures centered around project management methods, IS governance and change management. Since its inception, IS has achieved a 100% project delivery. Cobb received the "Project of the Year" award in 2010 from the Atlanta Chapter of PMI. Tim is a project management professional (PMP) and six sigma black belt.

Zumbox is the world's first digital postal system. It connects large transactional, financial and government mailers to consumer households for the delivery and storage of digital postal mail via the Internet. Digital postal mail is an exact facsimile of paper mail created from a redirection of the print stream originally intended for large mailing systems. Zumbox is available through TransCentra, Computershare, DST Output, KUBRA, Ricoh Production Print Solutions, Systemware and others as well as on a direct basis to the largest mailers in the country. For every U.S. street address, there is a corresponding Zumbox -- a digital mailbox -- enabling mail and other content to be sent as digital files and received online. Zumbox represents a more cost-effective, convenient and environmentally responsible way to deliver postal mail. As a closed system of known, verified mailers and recipients, Zumbox provides bank-level security and complies with PCI, HIPAA and BITS security standards.
