Young Bay Area Filmmakers From Camp Edmo Shine at Macworld 2010Technology Tradeshow Giant to Showcase Kid-Created Animated Shorts February 9-13 in San Francisco (February 08, 2010)
SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 02/09/10 -- Young campers turned filmmakers will experience the chance of lifetime as they see their movies, created at summer camp, on screens at Macworld 2010, February 9-13, at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.
Macworld will showcase five short films created by 4th -8th graders of Camp Edmo -- an educational Bay Area summer day camp that focuses on art, science, music and animation. The films, created on MacBooks, will be shown throughout the venue on more than 40 plasma screens during the five-day event.
"It's always rewarding to see children using technology to express themselves," added Paul Kent, vice president and general manager for Macworld 2010. "We are proud to be able to showcase the talent and energy put forth by these inspiring Camp Edmo filmmakers."
"We are thrilled to be part of Macworld 2010," said Sharon Mor, co-founder of Camp Edmo. "For our campers, this will be an exciting experience. Their work, talent, and creativity will be viewed by everyone who attends the expo and the kids will have a chance to experience a world-class event."
The following short films will be shown in the West and North Halls during Macworld 2010:
-- "Indiana Jones & the Shiny Water Jewel" by Ruby & Jessica, 5th grade of San Francisco -- "Eraser Chase" by Adam, Eli & Emile, 7th & 8th grades of San Francisco -- "Stone Plate" by Russell & Adrian, 4th & 5th grades of San Francisco -- "Ship Wreck" by Coleman, 5th grade of San Francisco -- "Ravenous Worm" by Dean, Min, and Johnny, 5th & 6th grades of San Francisco
Camp Edmo, along with Zeum, the leading non-profit multimedia arts and technology museum in San Francisco, and professional animator instructors, provided young summer campers with a well-designed animation curriculum and program. Children learned many aspects of filmmaking including writing scripts, drawing storyboards, painting sets, and building characters. Campers learned how to use different stop-motion animation skills and techniques such as how to film clay animation, how to bring their toys to life, and how to create an animated comic strip. They filmed scenes, recorded sound and edited their final product on MacBooks using FireWire Camera, iMovie audio + text, iStopMotion for OSX, and iMovie HD.
