Yemeni gets life in prison for piracy

Yemeni man sentenced to life in prison for his role in yacht hijacking that left 4 dead By The Associated Press

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) ' A federal judge has sentenced a Yemeni fisherman to life in prison for his role in a yacht hijacking that resulted in the deaths of four Americans.

Mounir Ali received the sentence Friday in Norfolk. The Virginian-Pilot (http://bit.ly/rk5BS2 ) reports that Ali apologized for participating in the attack.

Ali was one of 14 defendants charged in the February hijacking of the yacht Quest off the African coast. Several Somalis fatally shot the Quest's owners, Jean and Scott Adam of Marina del Rey, Calif., and their friends Bob Riggle and Phyllis Macay, of Seattle, several days after taking them hostage.

In July, Ali became the 11th man to plead guilty in the case.
