XChange Releases BodyPaint 3D 2.5 and CINEMA 4D R9.5Offers new features such as node editing systems, rendering optimization, and more (October 10, 2005)
XChange International, the source for extended technology worldwide, are pleased to announce the availability of both BodyPaint 3D Release 2.5 and CINEMA 4D R9.5 offering customers, ranging from large production studios to hobby artist, a new modular approach to increase productivity, with new features such as node editing systems, OpenGL enhancements, rendering optimisation as well as major improvements in workflow, character animation and particle rendering.
BodyPaint 3D lets users enjoy their favourite image editing tools directly in a 3D environment, and works in conjunction with their 3D application rather than against it. The product offers users the chance to wave goodbye to UV seams, inaccurate texturing and the constant back-and-forth switch to their 2D image editor. Hassle-free texturing lets users quickly paint highly detailed textures directly on their 3D objects.
BodyPaint 3D offers the ultimate control over textures with complete layers, filters and tablet support, all optimised for working in 3D. Users can paint on up to ten channels with a single stroke, so a single brush can define an entire material rather than a single colour. Plus, BodyPaint 3D's exclusive RayBrush technology lets users view the results of their painting realtime in a rendered image.
BodyPaint 3D's Projection Painting tool makes distortion-free painting a snap. This quick and easy tool provides the ability to paint across UV seams or even multiple objects in a scene. Even the most complex UV coordinates can be tamed with the help of a complete suite of UV editing tools. BodyPaint 3D includes three automatic UV unwrapping algorithms, including the new Optimal Cubic Mapping system.
While CINEMA 4D users enjoy the application as a completely integrated module, BodyPaint 3D was created for all 3D artists and includes free plug-ins to exchange models and textures with popular 3D applications. These plug-ins transfer models, textures and UVs between BodyPaint 3D and their 3D application of choice with no hassle at all. BodyPaint 3D offers direct support of XSI [4.x], Maya [5, 6], 3ds max [4, 5, 6, 7], LightWave [7.5c, 8.01], and CINEMA 4D [R8 and higher].
CINEMA 4D R9.5 boasts ease of use and legendary stability, and offers users more possibilities than ever before, whether for film, television, advertising, scientific simulations, architecture, product design or any other field that demands professional results. Its one-of-a-kind modular system and the ease with which it can be learned make CINEMA 4D R9.5 the ideal tool for any purpose and every budget. CINEMA 4D R9.5 is available in several languages.
The basic application already contains all functions needed to create high-end 3D images and animations. Users can start the application and start working. For those whose work demands more than the basic application, the developer provides numerous CINEMA 4D modules that can be integrated seamlessly. A total of 8 modules are available with which users can expand the functionality of their CINEMA 4D application to fit their needs.
Release 9.0 already added groundbreaking functionality, and now, CINEMA 4D R9.5 is here with over 50 new features and innovative improvements. The additional workflow optimisation sets new standards and the brand new SKY, integrated in Advanced Render, lets users create breathtaking atmospherics that will definitely get the attention of the 3D graphics industry. New lighting system features and rendering speeds of up to four times faster ensure that CINEMA 4D users get state-of-the-art technology now and into the future.
CINEMA 4D R9.5 New Features include: Interface and workflow additions:
* Full screen mode - Switches to full screen via CTRL+TAB, stores the old layout in a local memory, opens a new borderless window which takes up the entire screen space with only the CINEMA 4D main menu and the selected manager open. You can open managers on top (e.g. SHIFT+F1 opens the Object Manager as floating window). Pressing the shortcut again restores the old layout.
* Double-click the texture tag to activate a material in the material editor
* Click over HUD items that don't use the mouse is passed to CINEMA 4D
* Subgroups in the AM can be opened /closed over the length of the bar, and not just via the arrow
* Vertex map display for multiple objects
* Double-click selection object icon to restore selection
* Target expression expanded with up vector and pitch checkbox
* Save Incremental in main menu and plug-ins menu cleanup
* Layer Shader Browser added in SDK
* Tolerant polygon selection
* 2D HUD vector shapes
* Double-click to rename materials updated
* Inline renaming of object name with double-click on the name
Additionally, CINEMA 4D now allows users to set the defaults for objects, shaders, videopost, tags and materials. There are new light icons for the 4 main types. They will also be indicated in the object manager if they cast shadows. Changes to the interface, for objects, is now saved in the world prefs.
Three new noises, Fire, Electric, and Gaseous, ship with the latest version, and the new browser is an integral part of the future workflow of CINEMA 4D. In addition to the classic browser functions, it offers:
* File structure display.
* Drag and drop functionality (to and from the editor/object manager/material manager), including sorting and filtering of content.
* Search function, including keywords.
* Preset-management and modification.
* Thumbnail generation and caching.
Developers can access the browser through the API, creating settings with custom parameters, custom icons and complete hierarchies. Clicking on the search icon opens/closes the search pane above the directory views. Users can stop the search function by clicking on the "Cancel" button or clicking on the progress indicator. The product lets users build their own "search chain" by adding (+) or removing (-) search functions via the combo box. The search results are stored in a folder using the current date and time.
The SKY shader is a brand new development. It boasts a complete Cloud Wizard that allows the user to create or even paint volumetric clouds. Presets for global positions (cities, longitude/latitude) can be created and saved via the browser. Rainbows, fog and sunbeams are rendered, as well as accurate star-placement at night (including our complete solar system). The user can either pick a location and let the Wizard handle the rest, or use the control centre to adjust every parameter imaginable to create a custom environment. There are also user settings, similar to Sketch and Toon that hide the majority of the parameters in 'beginner' mode.
