XChange International Ships XPressMath Xtension

For complex mathematical structures in QuarkXPress (July 12, 2005)

XChange International, the source for extended technology worldwide, are pleased to announce the availability of XPressMath for QuarkXPress. The XTension software adds the ability to insert, build and modify sophisticated mathematical equations and structures to the popular desktop publishing application. XPressMaths features work in tandem with the typographical functionality of QuarkXPress and provide the ability to incorporate high-quality mathematical structures for engineering, science, and mathematical publications.

XPressMath automates the creation of intricate mathematical structures, combining them with text. Users can apply multiple colours and shades to the structures to create optically padded backgrounds within equation boxes. The XTension makes it easy to align and arrange equations and offers users complete control over the optical space. XPressMath includes the capability of moving a specified field vertically to comply with tolerance levels in the numerator or denominator, thus preventing characters from oversetting division rules.

XPressMath lets users set up globally editable structures that adhere to style sheet specifications. Additionally, users can specify parameters to automate formatting properties and set rules for multiple vertical alignment points, tagging, and naming of data elements. Rules can be created for scaling, baseline deflection, and left and right spacing, and using the ASCII filter language allows for the automation of stylised equations. The XTension provides a complete range of mathematical symbols and characters, with consideration for the nuances and variations of each symbol. The complete range of pi characters and alternate fonts can be accessed and characters from custom fonts may be used to suit each users specifications. Equations created with the XTension can be used across a wide variety of formats, with the ability to export PICT and BMP file formats on the Macintosh OS and Windows platforms.

XPressMath allows users to stack and centre elements such as lim procedures and accented characters over or under the baseline, while global editing capabilities help to employ across-the-board formatting changes of documents. Users can build equations and access fonts, font metrics, supersets, alignment options, and procedures. Numbers of supersets can be created and stored as files, and are interchangeable with another superset at any time.

Macros help in the automation and control of various tasks, with the ability to create and define up to 100 macros using the ASCII filter language. Equations saved in ASCII format may be imported or exported into QuarkXPress layouts for archiving.

Features include the ability to:
? Create case fractions
? Create multi-level build-up fractions and matrices
? Typeset radicals, integrals and summations
? Equations can be entered from the keyboard in an efficient and interactive manner
? Abridge the keyboarding functionality for mathematical text, signs, and pi characters
? Insert fixed amount of space around mathematical signs and structures
? Modify previously created mathematical equations
? Easily switch between typefaces as often as required within structures
