XChange International Announce Release of BatchXSLTfor Creating e-books from within Adobe InDesign CS2/CS3 (May 14, 2008)
InDesign provides the tools to easily create JPEGs and PDFs from individual pages and with a substantial amount of manual manipulation for each document, the textual information may be exported to XML. InDesign does not provide the tools to export a document as a whole, which is essential for use in web applications. BatchXSLT for InDesign exports a document as a functional unit ready for repurposing. The resulting XML and HTML output files contain information about article content (text styled by an external CSS), attached images, positions on the page (very important for ePaper applications), linked page JPEGs and page PDFs, and a linked and editable external Cascading Style Sheet.
Stories spread over multiple pages may be automatically split at a page boundary. This enables consumers to read novels, scientific papers and any other story in a page-by-page mode. BatchXSLT for InDesign is a powerful, flexible and expandable XML Transformer. Based on a given customer s requirements, XML programmers can create their own target format from the intermediary well-structured XML file format. Virtually an unlimited number of output formats may be created to match a client's needs, beginning with dedicated HTML, XML, RTF and any other text-based format up to a direct transfer into a database. All this may be achieved by a user creating and adding their own XSL style sheets and external Java functions or libraries.
Windows or Mac OS X with Java 1.5 or newer, and Adobe InDesign CS2 and/or CS3
