Wyse Cloud Client Computing Solutions to Support Citrix's Latest Desktop Virtualization Technology for Optimized User ExperienceWyse Thin Clients, Zero Clients and Wyse ThinOS Cloud Firmware to Support Latest Citrix HDX Enhancements for Optimized Desktop Virtualization and Cloud Computing Deployments (October 26, 2011)
BARCELONA, SPAIN and SAN JOSE, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 10/26/11 -- Today at Citrix Synergy Barcelona, Wyse Technology, the global leader in cloud client computing, announced the addition of new HDX features in its popular thin and zero client line, powered by the company's Wyse Zero firmware engine. The Wyse Zero engine powers Wyse ThinOS thin clients and the best-selling Wyse Xenith and Wyse Xenith Pro zero clients. With today's updates, users will benefit from improved performance, management and security, along with new features providing additional wireless capabilities, advanced multimedia, flexible language localization, and audio and peripheral support.
"For organizations using Citrix technologies to virtualize the desktop and escape the vicious and expensive break-fix-update model of PCs, these updated client devices provide the fastest, easiest to manage, most secure, energy-friendly solution," according to Hector Angulo, Product Manager, at Wyse.
Updates to zero client and thin client models were announced today:
Since its launch in May 2010, Wyse Xenith, the zero client built for Citrix, has been the industry's best-selling HDX compatible zero client. Wyse recently introduced Wyse Xenith Pro, doubling the HDX performance for advanced applications. Both models leverage the updated Wyse Zero engine, providing a best-in-class zero client experience including:
- New Citrix Receiver for Wyse Xenith: Wyse is the first vendor to bring ICA 13 features to a zero client, including ICA UDP audio, optimized media flow control for enhanced HD video, and more granular control of devices plugged into the zero client's USB ports.
- Foreign language support: A new robust localization framework allows customers to easily set the user experience to the desired language.
- Better control and support for "work from home" and other off-campus scenarios: Wyse Xenith and Wyse Xenith Pro now support deployments outside of the corporate infrastructure with support for the Citrix Access Gateway and learning and securely retaining desired configuration even when away from the corporate LAN.
Wyse ThinOS, the company's best-selling management-free thin client firmware platform, has also been updated to leverage the latest Wyse Zero engine. In addition to the functionality mentioned above, Wyse ThinOS-based thin clients provide a flexible, optimized solution for customers leveraging Citrix HDX 13 and Microsoft RDP 7.1. "With Wyse's combination of comprehensive hardware solutions, combined with compelling software solutions that help to intelligently manage cloud deployed resources, businesses benefit with simplified management and improved control of the end point devices."
"From an IT perspective, Wyse Xenith is everything I've wanted in a virtual desktop for our end-users," said Jason Policy, Network Systems Engineer at Ohio-based Summa Health System. "In particular, our ability to integrate with Citrix Access Gateway to provide secure and direct authentication for our people working from home has paid big dividends in terms of less administration and more convenience for our employees."
