WoodWing Releases Smart Styles 2 for InDesign 2New version gains table style and scripting support
Smart Styles brings a styles palette to Adobe InDesign that can automatically format the content of any text box--headlines, bylines, body copy, captions, etc. Styles can also be saved to the palette by dragging a block of text onto it. (The block of text can contain multiple styles as well.) Smart Styles 2.0 adds to this advanced table styles, transparency, drop shadows and feathering. It also offers an enhanced smart text styling engine, which now recognizes formatting without depending on paragraph or character styles.
For example, the content of a text frame can be formatted with multiple styles by selecting the style from the Smart Styles palette. This style selection can apply a variety of styles to the text in the text frame, including separate (and automatic) styles for headlines, decks, body copy, captions, etc.
Smart Styles also allows styling of individual tables or text frames containing multiple tables. As with text frames, sequence recognition helps determine how individual elements of the table will be styled automatically.
The Smart Styles are stored in an InDesign Library, which can be shared with other users. Text styles and swatches used by Smart Styles are automatically created when they are not available within the document.
Smart Styles 2.0 is available now for $149 for the full version or $49 for the upgrade from version 1.x. It's available for Macintosh and Windows. For more information, visit http://www.woodwing.com.
