John Wiggins of Soho-based Wonderland Sound performed the audio restoration and final mix for ?The Lady In Question is Charles Busch, a groundbreaking documentary from directors John Catania and Charles D. Ignacio of Two Lions Productions, which premiered at the prestigious Tribeca Film Festival in New York City.

?John Wiggins is a maestro of the sound board, notes Catania. ?He not only felt the rhythm of our project, he sensed how important this documentary was to us and really made it sing. It felt like he was as fully invested in this project as we were.

The documentary explores the world of Charles Busch, one of the most talented individuals on the New York theater scene. A prolific playwright, actor, novelist and drag artist, Busch launched his career in the East Village with his outrageous, cross-dressing classic, ?Vampire Lesbians of Sodom, one of the longest-running shows in Off-Broadway history. He went on to pen more hits for his legendary Theater-in-Limbo troupe, achieved success on Broadway with ?The Tale of the Allergists Wife and broke new ground writing and starring as leading lady in the film ?Die, Mommie, Die.

Wiggins performed extensive sound restoration on 25-year old video footage captured during Buschs Theater-in-Limbo performances. ?It was amazing that someone in the audience had recorded these shows, says Wiggins who employed a Digidesign Pro Tools HD3 system with plug ins to EQ the footage and make it audible. ?The sound in the documentary ranged from these vintage clips requiring fixes to pristine studio sound to music from Hollywoods glamour days, an era which greatly influenced the young Charles Busch who immersed himself in classic films to escape his trying childhood.

With only a four-day turnaround Wiggins imported Apple Final Cut Pro OMFs from postproduction into Pro Tools for the sound restoration and final mix on Digidesigns Control 24 surface.

?The Lady In Question Is Charles Busch received a five-minute standing ovation at its first Tribeca Film Festival screening. ?Charles is a New York story at a New York festival, says Catania modestly. ?Were hoping this reception will give our documentary legs for distribution.

Catania and Ignacio are veteran TV producers; both worked on the long-running PBS series, ?In The Life, which Ignacio executive produced. ?The Lady In Question is Charles Busch is their first feature film.
