Wildform Releases Flix Pro

New version outputs all forms of Flash video By Dave Nagel
Wildform today released Flix Pro. Flix is a utility that converts standard video input into vector animation. The new version is available for Macintosh (including Mac OS X) and Windows.

Flix Pro features output to the new Flash MX and Flash FLV video formats, as well as video that supports Flash 3 through Flash 5. It also outputs Wildform's own vector video format.

Flix Pro is the only software right now that outputs all types of Flash video. For Flash MX video, it supports both one-pass and two-pass variable bitrate encoding, as well as the .FLV files required to import MX video into the Macromedia Flash authoring tool. Wildform's Flash MX video, which plays in the Flash 6 player, uses high-quality video compression that is comparable to Quicktime, Windows Media Player and Real, according to Wildform.

For converting standard video into vector video, the software uses an automated trace bitmap function. The result consists of only lines and curves that can scale to any size without distortion.

Flix Pro costs $149 and includes $100 worth of video from the Wildform Video Library. For more information, visit
