WiebeTech Lowers External Drive Prices

DektopGB+ drops as much as $100 By Dave Nagel
WiebeTech has lowered the prices on its DesktopGB+ line of external FireWire/USB 2.0 hard drives. The models are available in capacities ranging from 80 GB to 250 GB (as well as a bare enclosure), with prices reduced by as much as $100.

The DesktopGB+ drives offer both FireWire and USB 2.0 connections and use 7,200 RPM mechanisms. New pricing on the drives is as follows:

  • 0 GB: $139.95
  • 80 GB: $199.95
  • 120 GB: (2 MB cache): $219.95
  • 120 GB (8 MB cache): $239.95
  • 180 GB (Western Digital): $299.95
  • 180 GB (Hitachi or IBM): $319.95
  • 200 GB: $379.95
  • 250 GB: $499.95

WiebeTech's DesktopGB+ drives include an enclosure, vertical stand, FireWire cable, USB cable and AC adapter. All of the models ship with Mac Drive 5, which allows Windows machines to view and use Macintosh-formatted drives.
