WiebeTech Launches DualGB

Dual drive enclosures offers RAID support in Mac OS X By Dave Nagel
WiebeTech has introduced a new line of of external drives called the DuoGB, an external FireWire-based system offering two drive bays within a single enclosure. The line is due out within a week.

The DuoGB offers two drives that can be mounted as separate volumes under Mac OS 9, Mac OS X and WIndows. In Mac OS X, the drives can also be striped or mirrored for speed or redundancy.They use an Oxford FW911 chipset for ATA-6 support and offer transfer speeds up to 40 MG per second in a RAID configuration.The following configurations will be available by next week (total capacity of dual drives listed):

  • Bare enclosure: $179.95
  • 240 GB: $449.95
  • 360 GB: $639.95
  • 500 GB: $869.95

All of the drives use 7,200 RPM mechanisms and ship with the enclosure, FireWire cable and AC cable. For more information, visit
