WiebeTech Boosts Performance of 500 GB DuoGB Drive

External FireWire model gets 7,200 RPM mechanism By Dave Nagel
WiebeTech today introduced a new version of its 500 GB DuoGB drive. The DuoGB is an external dual-disk drive in a FireWire enclosure. It's available now.

The new version of the 500 GB DuoGB adds a 7,200 RPM mechanism, up from the previous 5,400 RPM version. (The older version is still available as well.) The model includes two 250 GB, 7,200 RPM drives using the OXFW911 bridge, which offers full ATA-6 support and data transfer rates of 40 MB per second. The unit can be configured as a RAID in Mac OS X.

WiebeTech's drives include the enclosure, drives (where applicable), FireWire cable and AC cable. The new version of the 500 GB DuoGB sells for $999.95. The 5,400 RPM version sells for $869.95. Other models are also available in capacities ranging from 0 GB 360 GB. For more information, visit
