Waves Releases Restoration ToolsESTABLISHES NEW STANDARD WITH NOISE REDUCTION AND RESTORATION (October 25, 2001)
The Restoration bundle includes four new Plug-Ins; X-Noise, X-Click, X-Crackle, and X-Hum, all based on the outstanding audio restoration technology licensed from Algorithmix GmbH, Germany. X-Noise intelligently learns from a section of noise, and then applies a broadband noise reduction to eliminate background noise from any source. X-Click effectively removes clicks from 78's or vinyl records, as well as spikes arising from digital switching or crosstalk. X-Crackle is the second stage in the restoration of old records eliminating crackles and surface noise left after the X-Click process. X-Hum attenuates steady pitched low frequency disturbances, such as ground loop hum and its harmonics. It is also intended to reduce the rumbles, microphone pops, and even DC-offset.
"Waves new Restoration plug-ins allowed me to do some great work and stay within budget on restoring and remastering an old album. Linda Hopkins' Me and Bessie originals from the '70s were lost and the vinyl I received was in rough shape, but the Restoration tools did an amazing job of cleaning this up," said Jim Watson, FAT GROOVE Productions.
"Audio post-production requires removal of distortion, air conditioning noise and other time consuming audio clean-up. Waves' new Restoration bundle offers sonic quality as good my reference hardware system, but the Waves plug-ins allows me to tweak and work in real-time. I can hear the results immediately, so I can work faster and more efficiently," said Bryen Hensley, Post Effects.
"Our Restoration tools address the fundamental problem of broadband and impulse noise elimination," stated Gilad Keren, CEO of Waves Ltd. "Early users indicate that the signal restoring quality is comparable to the high-end $10,000 plus reference hardware tools, while offering dramatically simpler real-time operation. It is an ideal tool set for mastering, film, video postproduction, archiving, and forensic professionals. "
