Wave & Ride in Ft. Lauderdale; SunTrolley Kicks Off 2013 with Expanded Beach Link Service(January 09, 2013)
Fort Lauderdale, Fla. (PRWEB) January 09, 2013
To kick off the New Year, the SunTrolley is expanding its service to better accommodate Fort Lauderdales residents and visitors. Beginning Wednesday, January 2, 2013, SunTrolleys Beach Link Route will expand to 7-day service and operate between the hours of 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
The Beach Link Route runs from the Harbor Shops on 17th Street Causeway to the Galleria Mall at Sunrise Boulevard and the Intercoastal Waterway. In addition to accommodating seasonal tourists who are destined for Fort Lauderdale Beach, SunTrolley is utilized by residents both for pleasure and for job commute.
Currently, SunTrolley serves as an alternative to driving a car for over 7,000 passengers per month, states SunTrolleys Executive Director, Patricia Zeiler. The Beach Link Route is one of our most popular routes, accommodating passengers who work at the Galleria Mall as well as tourists who are bound for the beach and/or the mall.
Funding for this expansion has been provided by the Fort Lauderdale Beach Community Redevelopment Agency and the City of Fort Lauderdale Transportation and Mobility Management division.
SunTrolley is a wave and ride service. Passengers simply flag the driver anywhere along the route to board. Once aboard, the fare is 50¢ for one trip or $2 for all day, hop-on-hop off service. The Sun Trolley Tracker, a new mobile app for Android and iPhone users, provides real time location of all trolleys.
