Wacom Unveils Cintiq 18sxLCD pen tablet coming in May
The Cintiq 18sx combines a 24-bit color LCD monitor display with Wacom graphics tablet technology that allows use of a cordless, batteryless pressure-sensitive pen for drawing and manipulating data directly on the screen. Aside from the larger size (compared with the Cintiq 15x), new features include:
- Pressure-sensitive Grip Pen with 512 levels of pressure.
- 360-degree rotating stand with an inclination between 13 degrees and 70 degrees.
- Single Cable System, which combines power, video and tablet communications into a single conductor with standard connectors. (Video interfaces for analog (VGA) and digital (DVI) connections, as well as USB and serial tablet connections, are all included.)
Cintiq tablets include an ICC profile to maintain an accurate color environment. Profiles support Macintosh ColorSync and Windows ICM. It has a viewing angle of 160 degrees in all directions and an anti-glare and friction coating.
The Wacom Cintiq 18sx will be available in May for $3499.95. It's compatible with macintosh, Windows, Irix and Solaris. (SGI and Sun drivers sell for $149 extra.) For more information, visit http://www.wacom.com.
