Vook to Release 19 iPad AppsMixed-Media Publisher to Offer First Enhanced e-Books on the iPad (April 01, 2010)
ALAMEDA, CA and NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwire) -- 04/01/10 -- Vook today announced that it will be releasing 19 vooks for the iPad. Vooks are the first mixed-media digital books to be made available on the iPad. In the media category of iPad apps, vooks represent an entirely new experience of video, text, images and in-app emailing, brought to consumers in a single experience and ideally designed to bring the iPad to life.
The release of the iPad will make vooks available to millions of new consumers and stands to change the tide of digital publishing. Vook's mixed-media format fully leverages the iPad's revolutionary touch screen multimedia capabilities to create a dynamic reading experience unlike anything the publishing industry has previously been able to offer. In honor of this new media experience, Vook is giving away two vooks for iPad users: "Love, Love, Love: Shakespeare in the City" and "The Sherlock Holmes Experience."
"We will remember the iPad launch as the day that the publishing industry officially made the leap to mixed-media digital formats and never looked back," said Bradley Inman, Vook CEO and founder. "We have long anticipated the launch of next generation of tablets and have ensured that vooks were ready to fully take advantage of the amazing multimedia functionality and touch screen features of the iPad. We can't wait for people to be able to experience vooks on these devices."
Vook has quickly built up momentum with titles it has released for the iPhone and browser, including works from best-selling authors Anne Rice and Seth Godin. Vook fans will now have the opportunity to experience these vooks on the iPad, along with a library of other titles including Gary Vaynerchuk's "Crush It!," Jude Devereaux's "Promises," how-to selections such as "90 Second Fitness Solution" and the "Woman's Day CookVook," and classic tales like "Alice's Adventure in Wonderland."
