Volkswagen Shifts into Fourth Gear With Sponsorship of Sundance 2006Continues its fourth consecutive year of support for Sundance as the official festival vehicle
Volkswagen of America, Inc. continues its fourth consecutive year of support for Sundance as the official festival vehicle and one of four presenting sponsors of the 2006 Sundance Film Festival, taking place January 19-29, 2006. Showcasing the all-new 2006 GTI, the Passat Wagon 4MOTION and the entire range of VW vehicles, Volkswagen will provide all official transportation for Festival filmmakers, cast members and VIPs.

"Continuing to support the hard work and dedication of such stellar filmmakers and artists as those involved in Sundance is important to Volkswagen, and the Festival provides us with the means to honor the craft of independent filmmaking."
For the second year, Volkswagen will also host the 2006 Sundance Volkswagen Main Street Lounge, a two-story lounge and event space. During the day, the VW Main Street Lounge will be the hot spot destination for Festival filmmakers and talent. Here, festival talent will stop in for interviews or just chill out, relax and re-hydrate as they move from screening to soiree. Backstage Creations, who have created celebrity hospitality experiences for Hollywoods biggest events, has created a luxurious upstairs gifting experience for Sundance talent with a variety of high-end items.

Friday, January 20th Cocktail party for the cast of Steel City
Saturday, January 21st Big Beach Films cocktail party for festival films Little Miss Sunshine starring Greg Kinnear, Steve Carrell and Toni Collette and SherryBaby starring Maggie Gyllenhaal
Saturday, January 21st Late night party for the cast of Night Listener including Toni Collette and Jeremy Sisto
Sunday, January 22nd Reception for Beastie Boys festival film
Monday, January 23rd SPIN Reggaeton music party
One lucky filmmaker will have the chance to win the use of a Volkswagen Touareg through our ?Relentless Drive contest, which pays homage to the hard work and true dedication that goes into getting a movie made. Throughout the week, seven director profiles will be featured on the back page of the Sundance Daily Insider and VW Owners will have the opportunity to ?vote on these unique director stories. The votes will be tallied, and at the Volkswagen Owner Reception on Thursday evening, January 26th, the winner of the first-ever ?Relentless Drive Award will be awarded his or her Touareg.
Also, a new Touareg, on display throughout the Festival at 301 Main Street, will be signed by 2006 Festival filmmakers and talent. The signed hood will then be auctioned at the end of the Festival with all proceeds from the sale benefiting the Sundance Institute.
