VitalStream Debuts Web Conferencing Solution for Real-Time Interactive Presentations

(January 14, 2002)
VitalStream Inc. today announced the release of VitalPresenter, a Web conferencing service for live, multimedia presentations over the Internet.

VitalPresenter provides businesses with a quick and easy way to deliver live presentations to audience members around the world and is a cost-effective and secure way to announce new products, train employees, update investors and deliver other corporate communications via the Internet.

Key features include integrated video and audio streaming providing an in-person presentation experience, real-time polling for instant feedback from the audience, archiving for on-demand playback and remote control capabilities.

With feedback and interest generated from VitalStream's existing customer base, and after a year in beta testing with several Fortune 1,000 companies including Allergan and Pacific Life Annuities and Mutual Fund Division, VitalStream has developed a comprehensive, enterprise-level Web conferencing solution.

Specialty pharmaceutical leader Allergan was quick to embrace VitalPresenter as a key solution for its corporate-wide internal quarterly staff presentations. "VitalPresenter enhances productivity by streamlining our internal dialogue and allowing us to meet critical enterprise-wide communications challenges," said Chris Eso, Allergan's supervisor, corporate communications.

As companies are realizing a greater demand to communicate with employees around the globe, and as individuals are less inclined to travel, the demand for Web conferencing solutions as a means of providing a cost-effective and secure method for delivering corporate communications has skyrocketed.

"We saw a need in the marketplace for an economical way to replace or supplement traditional meetings and presentations. We worked closely with our existing customers to address their requirements and the expressed needs in the marketplace and we developed VitalPresenter," said Paul Summers, VitalStream chief executive officer.

Pacific Life Annuities and Mutual Fund Division currently conducts investment/financial planning conferences for a national audience of financial managers and planners using VitalPresenter.

"VitalPresenter gives us the power to present time-sensitive information to key audiences with complete control," said Clive Plumb, Internet marketing director with Pacific Life Annuities and Mutual Fund Division.

VitalPresenter is powered by VitalStream's MediaConsole(TM), a proprietary Web-based application that gives customers complete control of their streaming media and Web hosting accounts.

The MediaConsole is a platform independent, Web-based application which includes real-time reporting features, digital rights management, Web site statistics and payment processing through various payment gateways.

VitalStream is planning to take advantage of a rapidly growing market for digital content delivery and hosting services. According to the Aberdeen Group, a leading industry analyst firm, the hosting services market will reach $70 billion by 2005 and a recent US Bancorp Piper Jaffray report predicts that digital content delivery will reach more than $21 billion by 2004.
