Explores the Dark Side of Caribbean Folklore with Help from the Blackmagic Cinema Camera
Trinidadian born filmmaker Shaun Escayg has worked in VFX for more than a decade. He loves to create and manipulate images, especially when it comes to anything supernatural, as he is a huge monster film fan. For inspiration, he often draws upon his own heritage and love of Caribbean folklore, which has a variety of dark creatures in its beliefs, myths, tales and practices. In this type of folklore, the supernatural exists side by side with humans, and Shaun decided to explore this theme in his short film "Noka, keeper of worlds" which he wrote and directed. In order to bring the Caribbean's dark creatures to life, Shaun relied on his expertise in VFX, but when it came to capturing the live action, he needed a very specific camera to support his workflow. Fiksu’s October App Store Competitive Index found that app downloads through the month were up 42 percent over their September total, and up 39 percent year-over year, reaching a record high of 7.8 million across the top 200 free iOS apps. Guy Hilariously Tries To Get Help From Taylor Swift Lyrics Instead of Siri
One young Taylor Swift fan switched things up on his iPhone, replacing Siri's voice with snippets from Taylor Swift songs — and the result is hilarious. He asks "T Swizz" to schedule appointments and make phone calls for him, and her lyrical replies like "it's gonna be alright" and "let's be friends" are anything but helpful.

Photo-Sharing App Memoir Snags $5.5 Million To Help You Recall The Past
Photo-sharing application Memoir, a Timehop competitor that allows you to rediscover old photo “memories,” has raised an additional $5.5 million in a round led by Redpoint Ventures’ Ryan Sarver. Memoir, for background, first launched on iOS in fall 2013, offering users a variety of ways to uncover their old photos, including a time capsule-like function that’s a lot like Timehop’s. But Memoir tacks on several other features, too, including the ability to ask friends for photos you and they both snapped while at the same place at the same time.

You Can Now Share Public Tweets Via Private DMs on Twitter
You Can Now Share Public Tweets Via Private DMs on Twitter
Today in features you may not have know you wanted: Twitter is letting users directly share public tweets through its private direct messaging system. If tweeters copy and paste a tweet's URL into a direct message, it will now embed itself in the message for easier viewing. Previously, if you tried to paste the URL of a tweet into a DM, it would show up as a link. Though the new feature isn't a huge development, it saves you a click when privately sharing something in your Twitter feed; the update works on Twitter's web client, iOS and Android apps, and TweetDeck for Chrome, Windows and web. The move is a part of Twitter's larger effort to update its platform to be more user-friendly.
