Visual Effects Society Presents Show and Tell 2006

A full-day of visual effects wizardry (January 18, 2006)

WHAT: A full-day of visual effects wizardry where top visual effects artists will demonstrate the secrets behind the visual effects ?magic that earned each artist a place among this years VES Awards nominees. 

WHEN: Saturday, January 21, 2006    8:30AM 4:30PM

WHERE: Skirball Cultural Center, 2701 N. Sepulveda Blvd., Los Angeles, 90049

?Outstanding Supporting Visual Effects in a Broadcast Program

?Outstanding Visual Effects in a Commercial

?Best Single Visual Effect of the Year

?Outstanding Real Time Visuals in a Video Game

?Outstanding Animated Character in a Live Action Motion Picture

?Outstanding Animated Character in an Animated Motion Picture

?Outstanding Created Environment in a Live Action Motion Picture

?Outstanding Compositing in a Motion Picture

Among the dozens of VFX professionals scheduled to appear are Dennis Muren and Marshall Krasser (War of the Worlds); Dean Wright (The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe); Jim Mitchell, Tim Alexander and Steve Rawlins (Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire); John Knoll, Roger Guyett and Jonathan Harb (Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith); Pablo Helman and Grady Cofer (Jarhead); and David Torres (Robots). 

WHY: The SHOW AND TELL event allows nominated artists to include before-and-after materials, enabling them to step out from behind the proverbial curtain and share the magic of their craft, helping voters and guests to better understand the intricacies of each entry.  Also, the SHOW AND TELL event includes motion picture, commercial, video game and television categories, giving a more expansive look at the visual effects craft. 

TICKETS: The event is FREE for VES members and open to the public at $20 per ticket.  Tickets available by calling the VES office in advance at (310) 822-9181.
