Visual Data Completes Major Expansion and Renovation

Media Center Expands to Include 6 New HD Edit Suites & Infrastructure Build-Out (March 31, 2009)
DMN Newswire--2009-3-31--John Trautman, CEO of Visual Data Media Services, Inc. (, has unveiled a broad expansion of the company's service offerings and a 1.5 million dollar design renovation of the Burbank facility.  Over 13,000 square feet were remodeled in the project that yielded 6 new state-of-the-art editorial suites and expanded tape library facilities.  For more than 15 years, Visual Data has been recognized as a high value partner to major studios and distribution companies by providing integrated, end-to-end post-production solutions for seamless repurposing and distribution of content for all media platforms.  Visual Data undertook the long-planned expansion to address the evolving needs of its clients.

Over the course of the past five years, Trautman perceived that clients were looking to Visual Data to provide expanded High Definition (HD) and editorial services.  "Our clients have been consistently hit with decreasing budgets, increasing work load, and diverse demands for content.  It is also increasingly imperative that content be manipulated and delivered in a wide variety of ways, quickly and efficiently.  We believe that by adding expanded editorial services, compression expertise, and deliverables support, our clients will be better served.  In these particularly challenging times for studios, it is essential for facilities to be able to provide high caliber, flexible services at the right price point.  We've put Visual Data in the position of doing just that."  The door-to-door design renovation has yielded additional editorial firepower with 6 new editorial suites equipped with Avid Symphony Nitris (HD and SD video finishing), Final Cut Pro 6 (HD, SD, 4:4:4 compatible), Facilis TerraBlock Storage, and Pro Tools with 5.1.  All the suites possess full HD mixing capabilities as well.  The new suites are already being used for finishing work by major Networks and Cablers, as well as for the repurposing of feature films for broadcast, and foreign language dubbing services.

Visual Data has also increased its duplication and encoding capacities in both standard and high definition.  With the purchase of Digital Rapids Stream, Telestream FlipFactory, and multiple HDCAM SR decks, the facility is poised to service the ever growing demand for HD broadcast delivery and file downloads.  The company recently expanded its New Media Division, under the direction of Tim Rollenhagen, and will now offer complete Blu-ray and DVD menu design services; as well as a full range of authoring capabilities available for full length motion pictures, documentaries, short films, corporate presentations and show reels.  Encoding and content delivery via VOD, optical media replication and duplication, print design and pre-press services, and short run BD-R / DVD-R services will also be provided.

Visual Data's expanded tape library now has facilities to store up to 65,000 elements. With this additional capacity, advanced security systems, and upgraded Xytech support systems, Visual Data provides an ideal storage solution for its clients.  In addition, clients of Visual Data will now enjoy new meeting and conference spaces.  With seating for up to 16 people, the main conference room
showcases an Optima 1920 x 1080 projector with the ability to project SD, HD, and Blu-ray DVD's on a 10 foot projection screen.  Computer presentations via laptop or remote desktop, live editorial sessions, multi-format machine room playback and SD/HD TV can also be viewed in the room that provides Wi-Fi/Ethernet and teleconferencing capabilities.
