Vista Systems Introduces Montage II At INFOCOMM 2005

New control platform offers new feature set and modular design at attractive price point (May 27, 2005)

Vista Systems Corp., maker of the industry-standard Montage for seamless widescreen and multi-display applications, will unveil Montage II at INFOCOMM 2005, Booth #3309. The Montage II control platform, which supports Vistas Spyder family of processors, consists of a brand new control panel and v.2 Vista Advanced Windowing Control software.

?We had a great response to the Montage II prototype we showed at NAB, says Vista Systems CEO, Clark Williams. ?People were excited about its capabilities and ease of use.

?Now were ready to introduce Montage II at InfoComm, he continues. ?Montage II, which will be shipping by show time, is an entirely new platform throughout. Its a much more powerful programming environment than Montage but, at the same time, its easier to use. With analog and digital I/Os and a more modular design, Montage II can handle a wider variety of shows from single-screen applications to the most complex events. And Montage II offers all of this at a dramatically-reduced price point.

Williams notes that the increased power, innovative features and attractive price tag of Montage II make famed Montage picture quality and performance accessible to many new markets. ?Producers of smaller events who previously didnt have the budget for Montage technology will find Montage II within their reach, he reports. ?In addition, Montage II can now be used in command-and-control situations, in network operations centers and for scenic and set applications. ABCs ?World News Tonight features a set provided by Montage.

Among Montage IIs many offerings are:
* Digital I/O (DVI, SDI, HD-SDI) previously unavailable on Montage
* Composite S-Video I/O previously unavailable on Montage
* More powerful outputs which can be native or scaled TwinDVI (10-bit) hardware
* I/O expansion (32x32 max per pixelspace)
* Mixing of background stills at full display resolution
* Image capture from incoming video channel
* Better, more natural-looking shadows and borders
* Much smaller footprint than Montage; every 8 channels fits in 3 rack units.
* Color keying in addition to standard luminance keying

?As a second-generation control platform, Montage II is a ground-up rewrite with a much more logical control paradigm, Williams adds. ?Montage was a first-generation product which introduced a lot of new concepts. Montage II is a major step forward in the logic we use to control the system. The Montage II console and v.2 Advanced Windowing Control software are totally integrated so anything done in the software is immediately available in the console and vice versa.

Adam Benjamin, president of Chicagos High Performance Images, tapped v.2 Advanced Windowing Control software for New York Citys high-profile pitch to the International Olympic Committee for the 2012 Summer Games. ?The new software made programming the multi-day, live presentations widescreen HD graphics really simple, he reports. ?It simplified the whole process of doing moves and setting up looks. Its a great programming tool thats very easy to use. Advanced is like nothing else out there.

Francis Colette, owner of Multimedia Presentation Group (MPG), which has offices in San Diego, Denver and Orlando, has tested Advanced software and will be using it on several live shows in upcoming weeks. ?Its intuitive, user-friendly and very powerful, he says. ?Its 10-bit architecture gives beautiful, sharp images, and edge blending is much easier than it was on Montage.

Vista Systems will also be showcasing the diversity of Spyder and its widespread adoption across a variety of applications and industries including sanctuary, laboratory, shopping mall, corporate lobby, ballroom, war room, boardroom, operating room, classroom, and living room.
