Viewpoint Ships Mac Version of VMP

Media player gets 'functional parity' with Windows version By Dave Nagel
Viewpoint has released a Macintosh version of their Viewpoint Media Player. This is the first time a full-release Mac version has been available. However, the plugin is designed for mac OS 8.6 through 9.x and will only work in OS X when running a browser in Classic.

The Viewpoint Media Player is capable of two-way scripting on the Mac in both Internet Explorer and Netscape. The company says the Mac release has "functional parity" with the Windows version, including ZoomView. ZoomView is a feature in Adobe Photoshop 7 that allows for the export of high-resolution images for display on the Web but downloading only the resolution needed by the end user.

Other features include:

  • 3D objects with small file sizes.
  • Playback of .swf files.
  • HyperView for interactively expanding rich media content beyond the browser window.
  • Support for audio, IPIX and QTVR.

The Viewpoint Media Player is available now. For more information, visit http://www.viewpoint.com.
