Viewpoint Expands Its Reach in Japan With KGT

(December 21, 2001)
Viewpoint Corporation today announced a distribution agreement with Kubota Graphics Technologies (KGT) of Japan which will further Viewpoint's influence in that critical market.

The distribution agreement guarantees Viewpoint minimum payments in exchange for KGT's exclusive right to license Viewpoint technology in Japan. This deal in Japan was the latest for Viewpoint in the mold of arrangements also made with distributors in Germany and Australia.

KGT, a leader in digital visualization for medical, scientific, engineering and educational applications, was looking to expand its offerings beyond computer-assisted design and other, more traditional forms of digital media and sought exactly the opportunities that Viewpoint's technology presents.

"This arrangement is a natural extension of our international plan to engage local expertise with developed channels in order to proliferate our technology. This is truly a mutually beneficial opportunity for all involved," commented Fred Brown, Executive Vice President, Sales for Viewpoint Corporation.

"We chose Viewpoint because they have an open architecture with the highest image quality which features a powerful XML envelope and broad HTML integration. We are also very excited by their high profile investors, customers, and resellers, such as AOL, Adobe, Computer Associates, Ford and Fujitsu," stated Toshitaka Ueda, CEO of KGT.
