Viewercom Debuts Powerscreen(September 21, 2001)
Developed jointly with BBC Resources, Powerscreen is a heavy duty blue (or green) cloth covered with millions of randomly placed, microscopic, reflective beads which retro-reflect light at the same intensity from practically any angle, replacing the traditional bluescreen background. It is highly reflective and works in ambient light, therefore not requiring a dedicated studio environment or specialised lighting to create a perfect chromakey background with excellent edge definition.
As Powerscreen is system independent it is compatible with all chroma key software, can be used with a teleprompter and is ideal for live broadcast; whilst its tolerance of low or mixed lighting conditions make it particularly suitable to cover large areas or at distances of up to 20 metres (75 feet) to the camera lens.
Powerscreen material is 1.4 metres wide (4ft 6in approx) and is sold by the linear metre, with a minimum order of 2 metres. It can be stitched into larger areas and/or clothing.
