ViewSonic Launches LCD Displays, Projectors

Sub-$1,000 PJ510 projector offers 1,200-lumen brightness, SVGA resolution By Dave Nagel
ViewSonic has launched new models in its VG series of LCD displays targeted toward graphics professionals. The company has also shipped two new models in its 6-pound range of portable LCD projectors. All of the models are available now.

ViewSonic's new LCD displays include four new models, branded as the VG DigitalMedia series. These range in size from 15 inches to 19 inches and include OptiSync digital and analog inputs (DVI and VGA). The 15-inch VG510 offers a 25 ms video response time, 260-nit brightness and a 350:1 contrast ratio. The 17-inch VG710 offers a 16 ms video response, a 250-nit brightness, 450:1 contrast ratio and a native resolution of 1,280 x 1,024. The 18.1-inch VG810 offers a video response of 30 ms, a brightness of 250 nit, a contrast ratio of 350:1 and a native resolution of 1,280 x 1,024. And the 19-inch VG910 offers a resolution of 1,280 x 1,024, a 250-nit brightness, a 600:1 contrast ratio and a video response of 25 ms. All of the models are available in black or silver and come equipped with integrated speakers. Pricing on these models was not available at press time.


ViewSonic has also shipped two new models in its PJ line of LCD projectors. These include the PJ510 and the PJ650. The PJ510 offers a native resolution of 800 x 600, a brightness of 1,200 ANSI lumens and a contrast ratio of 300:1. It weighs in at 6.6 pounds and sells for $995. The PJ650 offers a native resolution of 1,024 x 768, a brightness of 2,000 ANSI lumens and a contrast ratio of 350:1. It sells for $1,999. Both models also offer a 4,000-hour lamp life (in "whisper" mode) and the following connectors: 15-pin D-sub RGB (one on the PJ510, two on the PJ650), composite, component, S-video and RCA (audio). The PJ650 also includes a USB port for the remote control mouse.
