Videotronic North America Intros Turnkey DVD-Video Kiosk

Company says set-up is 10 minutes out of the box By DMN Staff Writer
Videotronic North America L.L.C. (VTNA) announces what it says is the worlds first ?turnkey touchscreen DVD-Video kiosk product, the DK-01, a self-contained kiosk designed for DVD-based retail video promotions, point of purchase displays, exhibits or interactive training.

?Instead of having to design and custom build a kiosk unit, customers can order the DK-01 and its ready to go, right out of the box with everything you need to get started showing your DVD-Video program. Its a much simpler, economical and more reliable way for any business to get a kiosk up and running, says Andrew Hetzel, Managing Director of VTNA.

The aluminum kiosk enclosure includes a high-bright LCD touchscreen monitor that provides a crisp, clear picture and is designed and constructed to meet the harsh demands of a retail environment. Kiosk users can access different areas of the DVD-Video program by touching various places on the screen.

The kiosk unit also comes with integrated audio amplifier and stereo speakers positioned for maximum sound quality and a passive Infrared (PIR) sensor that mutes audio when no viewers are present. The DK-01 is designed to support the Videotronic/Philips ProDVD Player, included in its standard configuration. This industrial quality DVD-Video player is meant for heavy, long-duration use. Two-way communication through the players RS-232 serial port creates an interactive environment for the customer using the touchscreen LCD monitor.

The unit includes a locking base as a security measure. The kiosk is available in custom colors. A PC option is also available for customers who prefer to provide their own computer instead of using a DVD-Video player, as the included LCD touchscreen monitor accepts both video and computer SVGA signals.

The DK-01 ships complete in one crate, and can be assembled in ten minutes or less, according to the company.

Videotronic North America L.L.C. (VTNA) manufactures and distributes RS-232 controlled professional DVD players and accessories under the Philips ProDVD brand name.
