Victor Barroso Joins Post Works, New York As Head of Graphics and Effects Division

PostWorks, New York has named visual effects and graphic designer Victor Barroso director of the company's newly created Graphics & Visual Effects division. In acquiring Discreet Logic's Flame and Smoke systems and Nothing Real's Shake software, the four-year-old digital postproduction facility now offers complete finishing services for its film, broadcast and commercial clients.

"Our goal over the last twelve months," says PostWorks co-founder and co-CEO, Billy Baldwin, "has been to fine tune the workflow for our clients so that the post production environment becomes as seamless as possible. Our in-house audio and graphics divisions mean we've eliminated the traditional compatibility issues that exist when projects are forced to finish or mix at separate studios. PostWorks can now handle graphics, titling and finishing with the same attention to detail and technical expertise that make us such a strong facility."

Barroso has spent the last three years as the Director of Graphics and Effects at Flicker fx, the New York-based visual effects/design shop he co-founded in 1998. Prior to that Barroso was director of graphics and effects at Edefx, New York.

While at Manhattan Transfer, Barroso won a Gold Medal from the New York Festivals for the visual effects in 7-UP's "Field of Dreams" campaign. Barroso has also worked on top national ads for Pepsi, E-Trade, Sunny Delight and MCI, as well as broadcast promos for the NFL, HBO and Bravo.

Barroso is equally comfortable on Avid Media Illusion, Henry, Hal, Discreet Logic's Flame/Inferno systems and Nothing Real's Shake, and he brings his training as a painter and illustrator to these state-of-the-art mediums.
