Verdasys Achieves NIST Validation for FIPS 140-2 Government Standard

(October 18, 2011)

WALTHAM, MA -- (Marketwire) -- 10/18/11 -- Verdasys, the leading provider of Enterprise Information Protection (EIP) solutions for the Global 2000, announced today its Secure Cryptographic Module used to provide integrated data encryption in Verdasys' Digital Guardian™ technology platform has achieved Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) 140-2 accreditation as published in Security Requirements for Cryptographic Modules. To assist in the certification process Verdasys partnered with Corsec Security, Inc., a consulting firm with over thirteen years of experience successfully helping leading software firms expedite FIPS 140-2 validation.

"As a pioneer in policy-based data security, Verdasys is used by organizations across virtually every industry to enforce productive information protection programs," said Verdasys CEO and President Jim Ricotta. "Digital Guardian's certification as FIPS 140-2 compliant further validates our industry leadership, and I would like to commend our partners at Corsec Security for their expertise and professionalism while helping us to achieve this elite status."

FIPS 140-2 certification is a requirement for all cryptographic product used in a U.S. government agency network. It is a standard defined by a joint U.S.-Canadian government effort respectively led by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), and the Communications Security Establishment Canada (CSEC). The Cryptographic Module Validation Program (CMVP), headed by NIST, provides the testing benchmark that determines FIPS 140-2 compliance for all data security technologies considered for deployment by government agencies.

"The FIPS 104-2 standard is designed to ensure only the most secure encryption technologies are used to protect classified government data," said Matthew Appler, CEO and co-founder of Corsec Security. "The certification criteria and testing methodologies used by Corsec are recognized as some of the most stringent and thorough audits of FIPS compliance in the world, and we are happy to be able to confirm Digital Guardian's accreditation in this regard."

The FIPS 140-2 certification is trusted worldwide to independently verify the effectiveness and reliability of data encryption solutions. With Digital Guardian's FIPS 140-2 compliance status confirmed, Verdasys further assures its Federal customers delivery of unmatched enterprise information protection verified by the highest standards for engineering quality and dependability.
