Vangent Awarded $11 Million Task Order From the Military Health SystemCompany to Provide Critical Health Information Management Services for the Common User Database (December 15, 2008)
ARLINGTON, VA -- (Marketwire) -- 12/15/08 -- Vangent, Inc., a leading global provider of information management and strategic business process outsourcing solutions, today announced that the Department of Defense (DoD) has awarded the company an $11 million prime contract to provide information technology support services for the Common User Database (CUD) in support of the Military Health System (MHS). The contract has a base period of one year with four, one-year option periods. The program is managed out of the DoD's Force Health Protection & Readiness Program Office in Falls Church, VA in support of the Defense Medical Standardization Board and Joint Staff Surgeon J4.
The CUD is a net-centric, medical material logistics and clinical patient encounter standardization tool, serving as the core of clinical and medical logistics planning. When fully operational, the CUD will provide a standard, validated set of referential medical data that can be used across the Force Health Protection Continuum by all Services for planning and simulations. The CUD data allows for the deployment of sufficient medical resources around the world, and supports applications like the Joint Medical Analysis Tool (JMAT) v2.0, developed by Vangent partner Akimeka LLC. Under the contract, Vangent team personnel will directly support the CUD system in all facets of capability and operations. In addition to Akimeka, Vangent is partnered with The Geneva Foundation, a nonprofit organization with the sole mission to promote and support the advancement of military medicine. The contract was awarded under Defense Medical Information System/Systems Integration, Design, Development, Operations and Maintenance Services (D/SIDDOMS) 3 Indefinite Delivery / Indefinite Quantity (ID/IQ).
"Tracking clinical information and managing logistical support is difficult within a single enterprise, let alone across the globe," said Mac Curtis, president and CEO of Vangent, Inc. "The Common User Database answers a critically unmet need by providing the Department of Defense with a comprehensive view of military medical activities worldwide, enhancing the quality of care provided to our service members in the field and at home."
