VFXTalk Goes Behind the Scenes of ?X-Men 3

Framestore?s Craig Lyn Responds to Members? Questions in ?Master Series? Exclusive (August 09, 2006)
 In the latest in its Master Series of interviews with the worlds leading visual effects artists, VFXTalk ( presents a lively, in-depth conversation with one of the clever craftsmen behind this years hit, X-Men 3: The Last Stand. VFX Supervisor Craig Lyn led a team of artists from the UKs Framestore CFC in creating some of the films most innovative visuals including an uncanny sequence depicting the destruction of San Franciscos Golden Gate bridge.

Lyn is one of the most remarkable young artists working in visual effects today. The author of a best-selling book on visual effects, The Macintosh 3DHandbook, Lyn was part of the team that won an Emmy Award for the groundbreaking mini-series Dinotopia as well as a key contributor to such films as Pearl Harbor, Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, Thunderbirds and Alien vs. Predator.

In this VFXTalk exclusive, Lyn, responding to questions submitted by members of the community, describes in detail how his team gave the Golden Gate bridge sequence such incredible realism as well as how they created the character Angel, whose beautiful, feathery wings provide one of the films most haunting images. He shares his thoughts on what its like to work on a Hollywood blockbuster and the pressures of having to deliver 175 visual effects shots. He also talks about the path that led him to a leadership role in the world of visual effects and offers advice to those who would like to follow in his footsteps.  The story is available at
