VFX/Post Production community bands together for Lime-AidPost Services Auction August Offers Agencies Chance to ?Make a Commercial, Improve a Kid's Life? (August 06, 2007)
DMN Newswire--2007-8-6--If ever you've wondered if any good can come from the creation of television commercials, wonder no more. Santa Monica-based Final Mix house Lime Studios is partnering with the Global Water Trust to host LIME-AID, an online, charitable auction of postproduction services. Lime-aid has a very concrete goal: to raise $400,000 to build a 75 bed orphanage, a 150 desk school, a clinic and a clean water supply for the entire complex in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. The funds will be raised through a 3-day, industry-wide Ebay auction starting August 27th, wherein participating companies will auction off their editorial, music, vfx, sound and other postproduction services in exchange for LIME-AID vouchers. After the bid-upon services have been rendered and paid for, the postproduction providers will make a donation in the amount of the voucher to the Global Water Trust, which earmarks the funds for the Lime-Aid project.
Bruce Horwitz, Lime Studios partner and founder of LIME AID explains, "After several visits to Haiti, it was always a shock to return to the production world and witness the vast sums of money in play, a fraction of which could profoundly affect hundreds of lives."
"Were hopeful this initiative will shine a little light on Haiti," Horwitz continues. The Global Water Trust will oversee the nuts and bolts of the Haiti complex' construction. "We hope to have the project completed as soon as January 2009," says Horwitz.
Says MiShawn Williams, Executive Producer of human, Worldwide: "We couldn't pass up an opportunity to contribute to a project like this? [LIME-AID] is a way for all of us - LIME, donors and bidders - to really take a stand for life."?
A week after the auction on Friday, September 7, Lime Studios will host a benefit party in Los Angeles to celebrate the post and advertising communitys ability to create change in the world by making spots. Jason Bentley (of KCRW-FM, Los Angeles) will be DJ for the festivities, where an HD video projection on Haiti will be featured to enlighten partygoers. Products and service donations include sushi by Wabi-Sabi, Venice; refreshments from Absolut Vodka, Kirin Beer, and several sake companies; and other food and beverage goodies.
