VBrick Systems Streams Unmanned Vehicle Field TestDARPA Grand Challenge 2005 taps VBrick for live Webcast from starting line to winner?s circle (October 10, 2005)
DARPA Grand Challenge 2005 organizers selected VBrick Systems to provide digital video appliances that streamed real-time video to the Grand Challenge central command. Grand Challenge organizers used the VBrick appliance digital video streams to track the event and provide live webcast content that was available online to all Grand Challenge enthusiasts worldwide. VBrick MPEG-4 encoder appliances were installed in multiple vehicles monitoring the event and at the start and finish lines thereby providing Grand Challenge officials and webcast viewers with engaging course views.
The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Grand Challenge 2005 is a field test of robotic ground vehicles designed to spotlight autonomous vehicle technology advances and accelerate the deployment of unmanned ground vehicles for military applications. DARPA announced that 23 teams successfully passed preliminary field test trials and compete for a $2 million prize on Saturday, October 8, 2005. The 150-mile course spaned extreme desert and mountain terrain near Primm, Nevada.
