Using the Write-On Effect to Create Handwritten Text in Premiere Pro CS3Jeff also shows you some advanced tricks for working with keyframes
In this week's podcast, host Jeff Schell demonstrates how to use the Write-On video effect in Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 to create the illusion of text being "hand written" on the screen, one letter at a time. The key to this effect is animating the position of the Write-On effect, by creating keyframes in the Effect Controls panel.
Jeff also shows you how to enable "Direct Select mode" to drag the effect position in the Program Monitor to graphically make keyframes, instead of relying on the numeric values shown in the Effect Controls panel.
Jeff also introduces you to some of the lesser-known properties of the Write-On effect, namely giving you instructions on how to change the brush "stroke" over time, which enables you to reveal text that has both thin and thick lines.
Finally, Jeff also shows you some advanced tricks for working with keyframes, such as: viewing the Velocity graph to ensure a constant speed throughout your effect, as well as zooming in to grab the keyframe handles to control the amount of curve in between along the spatial path between keyframes.
