Update: Matrox Closer to Beta for OS XCompany says random crash issue solved
The two problems apparently holding back the release were an A/V sync issue and a case in which random crashes would occur. Matrox says it has solved the random crash issue and has now determined the cause of the problem with audio drifting out of sync.
In the Matrox support forum, a product specialist noted, "Since our last announcement we have made progress on supporting RTMac on OS X. We have solved a particular case which was causing a random crash to occur and have determined why the audio drifts out of sync. As stated previously, the A/V sync issue is currently the number one priority. We do not have an estimated or revised time for the public release of the OS X drivers for the RTMac, but are optimistic that it will be soon."
The RTMac is the only video capture and editing system Matrox currently manufactures for the Macintosh platform. Introduced back in 2000, it was expected to have been updated for Mac OS X in June 2002. Since that time Matrox has show pre-release versions of the system running on Mac OS X but has kept the beta private. A public beta was anticipated last month. We'll keep you posted on further developments. For more information, visit http://www.matrox.com.
